As Mayor, I would like to welcome you to the
Town of Westover
website!

It is an exciting time to be a part of our Town. Like many of you, my roots go deep here in Westover. My family here goes back many generations. Through the years, we have not witnessed a great deal of change. We now don’t have to go far to see evidence of new growth and change coming down Highway 280. The Town has worked hard to prepare and plan for this new growth and has adopted a Comprehensive Plan, and a zoning ordinance; set up a review process with a professional staff of engineers and planners to review new growth proposals and put together a process to manage licenses, permits and applications to be sure that we manage, answer questions and respond to issues as quickly as possible.

The Town is excited about the Town Library and Town Hall improvements as well as the new Town Park that was dedicated a short while ago. A Town Weather Siren is also in place to alert the citizens of severe weather conditions and others are applied for. The first three Christmas Parades for the Town of Westover have been tremendous successes growing each and every year to the point of over forty-five entries for the last Christmas Parade. The Seniors program and Summer Reading program have also been very successful. The Sheriff’s Department is contracted to provide our local police services and the new Municipal Fire Department for the Town of Westover has been organized and established with a new fire truck and reserve truck and have twenty-four hour, seven day a week firefighter-paramedic service available to the citizens inside the city limits.

Access Management on 280 continues to be a priority as we continue to work toward being as far “ahead of the curve” as we can be. Without a plan we will fail or said another way, “Where there is no vision the people will perish”.

As the sawmills and the schools of the 1940’s and 50’s closed and brought change, the sewer line, new homes being built and new businesses coming in are now bringing change again. Change is upon us. With change come challenges and opportunities. We must face the challenges and seize the opportunities. It is truly an exciting time in Westover. We will continue to work hard to make our Town proud of its heritage and its future.
